Moving 20 litters of PUPPIES!!!

The "doer" safely and securely strapped in for the ride from Knoxville, TN to Atlanta, GA. Inside the "doer" is frozen semen for a total of 20 litters of Welsh Terrier puppies!

We arrive at our primary reproduction vet office. The semen will be stored here. It will be easily accessible for our use or to ship to other breeders. Freezing semen allows breeders to place their male dogs in companion homes, yet utilize the genes in the breeding program for many years to come. (We have used semen frozen and stored for 30 years)

Anna, Dr Kestle's tech, transfers the frozen semen.

Dr Kestle and Tom take care of the necessary paperwork.

We have been BUSY!!!

Sharon and I have had a busy and fun late spring and early summer. I don't have enough hours in the day, days in the week, weeks in the month to keep our blogs up to date. Just a brief summary of what has been happening at Shaireabs -Bayleigh in the past few months. We have been able to attend most of the shows this spring...lots of driving ( with frustrating moments with the GPS), eating out, visiting friends and doing what we love...WATCH our 4 legged kids in the ring.

Our two girls, Darla (Shaireab's Bayleigh Just Watch Me) and Jenny (Shaireab's Bayleigh Maid of Honor) were Winners Bitch two of the days during the Louisville Cluster, which hosted the floating speciality for the Welsh Terrier Club of America. Jenny, with Sharon showing her, won Best in Sweeps. Contrary to the superintendents report, Tommy was not exhibited that weekend. He started his specials career several weeks later.

At the Garden State Terrier Club show in Trenton, NJ, Tommy won Best of Breed and Darla was Winners Bitch and Best of Opposite. Tommy finished his first weekend as a special by winning the competitive Terrier Group at the Trenton Dog Show.

Our next speciality show was the Great Lakes All Terrier Association in Illinois. Again Tommy won Best of Breed under esteemed breeder judge Mr Bruce Schwartz. Pola, Shaireab's Bayleigh Pola Embrujo De Brujas, our puppy bitch, who is co owned and bred by Ivan Sandoval, was Winners Bitch, Best of Winners, Best of Opposite and won the Terrier Puppy Group

Tommy, GCH Bayleigh Shaireab's Pinball Wizard, has won Best of Breed at the 3 Terrier Speciality shows (Garden State Terrier Show, Great Lakes All Terrier Association and Virginia Terrier Club) in which he has been shown this spring. He topped off his spring/summer tour by winning Best in Speciality Show at Virginia Terrier Club. Pola, Shaireab's Bayleigh Pola Embrujo De Brujas, finished her Championship this day, by winning Winners Bitch, Best of Winners, Best of Opposite and Best Puppy in Show.

We are taking a month or so off from the show ring. Family vacations and puppies coming...not to mention it is too hot!

Evaluating Derry - Stuart puppies at eight weeks old

The puppies have been examined by the cardiologist, orthopedist and general vet. All passed all exams with flying colors. Now Sharon, Tracy and I graded the litter on Thursday, March 24. We are very excited about the entire litter. Notice the natural tails...hopefully we will see these puppies at future Crufts show.

Wonderful Week! New puppies, seeing old friends and fun dog shows

As usual things have been busy at Shaireabs-Bayleigh Welsh Terriers. Helen had 5 puppies, 3 girls and 2 boys on Friday. Sharon and I have been in Louisville, KY at the Welsh Terrier Club of America floating speciality. Sharon and Jennie, Shaireab's Bayleigh Maid of Honor, were Best in Sweepstakes today. Jennie was also Best of Winners on Thursday for a 5 point major. We are very proud of our puppy girl. Not only did we have a successful weekend, Darla, Shaireab's Bayleigh Just Watch Me, was also winners bitch on Friday for a 5 point major, but it was nice to spend the weekend with our friends other parts of the country.

The two Amigos at one of my favorite local spots on Hilton Head Island

Sharon and I enjoying lunch at Amigos. Lunch was good as I had remembered (from 10 years ago). Notice the wall in the background. Locals contribute old license plates for wall decorations. Somehow two of my old plates from 2000 made it to the wall. One says 4RDOG and the other is one of my son's plates when he was a student at Ole Miss. It has his initials DLB with the Ole Miss Rebel (which is too light to see in the photo)

Hilton Head Island Dog Show March 5 and 6

As I was turning into the dog show I shot a picture of the sign from in my car...not very good at planning ahead. I lived on Hilton Head for over 20 years, so this little dog show is always fun to attend. Beautiful location (I would encourage spectators and exhibitors to come to this show) great restaurants, incredible beaches, nice hotels, lots of golf courses, tennis, etc. We had a fun relaxing weekend!

Esther is home for a visit

Esther is back home for a short visit. Her family is on vacation and she has a date with a handsome young man here!

At long last we are having a break in the winter weather. Esther has been busy trying to catch a bird. Silly girl you are not a bird dog!

Derry and Stuart puppies

The puppies are only an hour old in these two photos. The girls wear a pin collar and a multi glitter color collar. The boys are wearing gold and blue collars. Stay tuned for updates and new photos. They are growing like proverbial weeds, having gained 50% of their birth weight in 3 days.

Our newest additions

We are proud to announce the addition of 4 beautiful puppies, 2 boys and 2 girls. The mother is Ch Shaireab's Bayleigh Good Time Girl, Derry, and the sire is Ch Shaireab's Honor Among Thieves, Stuart. Both sire and dam were winners at the National Speciality, Montgomery County Kennel Club.
