in Greenville, SC the weekend after the Garden, Tracy and Baron placed on Saturday 2/18 and Sunday 2/19 against stiff competition! Saturday's group judge was Mr. Richard William Powell, Sunday's was Mrs. Paula Hartinger.
We are pleased to introduce at Westminster Kennel Club our newest specials dog, CH Geri's Gales Baron Rojo. This beautiful young male, sired by our dog Ch Bayleigh Shaireab's Nick of Time (who was winners dog at the National Specialty show MCKC in 2007), was Best of Winners at the National Specialty his first weekend in the States. During his first outing as a special Baron had multiple group placements and won a group during the highly competitive Florida circuit in January. Watch for Baron to step into Tommy's place in the show ring in 2012.
The "doer" safely and securely strapped in for the ride from Knoxville, TN to Atlanta, GA. Inside the "doer" is frozen semen for a total of 20 litters of Welsh Terrier puppies!
We arrive at our primary reproduction vet office. The semen will be stored here. It will be easily accessible for our use or to ship to other breeders. Freezing semen allows breeders to place their male dogs in companion homes, yet utilize the genes in the breeding program for many years to come. (We have used semen frozen and stored for 30 years)
Anna, Dr Kestle's tech, transfers the frozen semen.
Dr Kestle and Tom take care of the necessary paperwork.
Our two girls, Darla (Shaireab's Bayleigh Just Watch Me) and Jenny (Shaireab's Bayleigh Maid of Honor) were Winners Bitch two of the days during the Louisville Cluster, which hosted the floating speciality for the Welsh Terrier Club of America. Jenny, with Sharon showing her, won Best in Sweeps. Contrary to the superintendents report, Tommy was not exhibited that weekend. He started his specials career several weeks later.
At the Garden State Terrier Club show in Trenton, NJ, Tommy won Best of Breed and Darla was Winners Bitch and Best of Opposite. Tommy finished his first weekend as a special by winning the competitive Terrier Group at the Trenton Dog Show.
Our next speciality show was the Great Lakes All Terrier Association in Illinois. Again Tommy won Best of Breed under esteemed breeder judge Mr Bruce Schwartz. Pola, Shaireab's Bayleigh Pola Embrujo De Brujas, our puppy bitch, who is co owned and bred by Ivan Sandoval, was Winners Bitch, Best of Winners, Best of Opposite and won the Terrier Puppy Group
Tommy, GCH Bayleigh Shaireab's Pinball Wizard, has won Best of Breed at the 3 Terrier Speciality shows (Garden State Terrier Show, Great Lakes All Terrier Association and Virginia Terrier Club) in which he has been shown this spring. He topped off his spring/summer tour by winning Best in Speciality Show at Virginia Terrier Club. Pola, Shaireab's Bayleigh Pola Embrujo De Brujas, finished her Championship this day, by winning Winners Bitch, Best of Winners, Best of Opposite and Best Puppy in Show.
We are taking a month or so off from the show ring. Family vacations and puppies coming...not to mention it is too hot!
